The Washington Nationals are bringing back their all-star closer after non-tendering his contract earlier in the off-season.

MLB Trade Rumours had projected Finnegan would be awarded $8.6 million in arbitration before the Nationals non-tendered him.

Finnegan, 33, was an all-star for the Nationals last season who earned 38 saves in 65 appearances. He posted a 3.68 ERA with 60 strikeouts and just nine walks allowed.

The Detroit native has spent his entire five-year major league career with the Nationals.
