Rylan Clark returned to his BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday and seemed eager to share a bit of gossip with his listeners and co-star, Orna Merchant. However, the presenter stopped in his tracks as he feared he would reveal too much and end up “getting in trouble”.

The former X Factor star got onto the subject after a trailer for Race Across the World aired, prompting Rylan to exclaim: “Do you know what’s weird Orna? Oh… can I say this?” To which travel news presenter Orna suggested: “Give me a clue.”

Explaining his hesitation, Rylan replied: “Do we know where the Race people have gone for this season? No? I was going to say something, but I better not because I’ll just get in trouble by the BBC won’t I? But if I can tell you where it is, then I’ll tell you my story.”

Rylan was then informed by his producer that he was allowed to mention that series five of Race Across the World had been filmed in Asia, seeing the contestants challenged to travel across China, Nepal and India without phones, flights or bank cards.

After getting a bit frustrated over the confusion about how much he could reveal about the upcoming BBC show without spoiling it, Rylan finally told listeners that he wanted to share an anecdote about how he and Rob Rinder had bumped into the Race Across the World crew while filming series two of Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour in India.

He jokingly hit back: “Well, basically, when I was filming Rob and Rylan, I bumped into the Race Across the World crew!

“That’s what I was saying! I didn’t know if I was allowed to say, because I didn’t know if people knew where Race Across the World was this time!”

Rylan then defiantly added: “Do you know what? If I get in trouble, I get in trouble. I’ve had a lovely run, and it would be nice to have a weekend off!”

Clearly in a rebellious mood, the Big Brother star went on to cheekily slam Radio 2 listeners who had been questioning why they would vote for his Rylan On Saturday show to win a TRIC Award, as he’s missed a few broadcasts recently due to filming commitments for his reality show, Dating Naked UK.

He swiped: “I’ve seen all your messages on Twitter saying, ‘why am I going to vote for you for an award when you’re never in?’ Darling, I’m busy, I’ve got a job, I don’t have weekends off! I’ve just been in Panama for three weeks filming naked people!”

Fans are already excited to catch up with Rylan and Rob’s latest adventures, after their first series, based in Italy, received rave reviews from critics and viewers alike.

The BBC show even sparked rumours that Rylan and Rob had struck up a romance due to their on-screen chemistry.

However, the stars have since clarified that they’re just friends, with Rylan quipping to Express.co.uk: “Me and Rob are like an old married couple but we don’t have sex. We are a typical married couple!”
