The Manhattan-based spinoff of the zombie franchise returns for its second season shortly. In an eight-page feature, we quiz producer Scott G Gimple and star Lauren Cohan about what’s in store.

The MCU will be dabbling in morally grey territory come 2 May, as Phase Five closes out by assembling a team of anti-heroes including the likes of Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes and Taskmaster (not, not Greg Davies). We speak to director Jake Schreier.

Doctor Who

Juno Dawson on-set with three green-skinned aliens.

The sixth episode of Ncuti Gatwa’s second season, “The Intergalactic Song Contest”, looks almost certain to be this year’s most-watched, given that (barring the football going to extra time…) it’ll be jammed in-between the FA Cup Final and the Eurovision final. We get the inside word from writer Juno Dawson and production designer Phil Sims (illustrated with concept designs and Dawson’s on-set snaps).

Haunted cabin video game Until Dawn is coming to the big screen, and the team behind it are doing something a bit different, employing a time loop structure to riff on multiple horror subgenres. Co-writer Gary Dauberman and director David F Sandberg tell us more.

Final Destination Bloodlines

Student Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) splattered with blood.

After a gap of 14 years, the death-dealing franchise that makes the wait to see how a Casualty guest star ends up in Holby City look tame is returning. We talk gore, Easter eggs and Tony Todd with directors Adam B Stein and Zach Lipovsky.

As regular readers will know, SFX loves to showcase the work of behind-the-scenes creatives. In this month’s design feature we talk to special make-up effects whizz Arjen Tuiten about his contributions to Leigh Whannell’s new riff on the Universal classic.
